Rescue Recess

Looking for a walking buddy? Our Rescue Recess program invites members of the community to take a shelter dog on a short outing—from a stroll through downtown Naples to a relaxing hike on a nearby trail. It’s a simple but powerful way to enrich the lives of our dogs and give them a break from kennel life.

Many of our adult dogs experience stress in the shelter. Rescue Recess gives them a chance to burn off energy, enjoy one-on-one attention, and increase their chances of adoption by being seen out in the community. And for our volunteers? It’s a low-time-commitment, high-impact way to make a difference.

Come over to the PBHSN Main Shelter or the von Arx Adoption Center and our staff will pair you with the perfect Rescue Recess companion.

It’s easy – just follow these steps:

  • When:
    • Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
      • Please note, Rescue Recess pick-up and drop-off is unavailable between 11am-12:30pm
    • Saturday-Sunday, 8:30 – 11:00am
  • Where: PBHSN Main Shelter or von Arx Adoption Center
  • How: Check in at the front desk

Patty Baker Humane Society Naples will provide a collar, leash and a backpack of adventure supplies which include an Adopt-Me doggie vest, water and a bowl, treats, poop-bags and a list of dog-friendly spots in Naples.

Rescue Recess participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is at least 18 years old.

When you return, we ask that you send us photos of your outing and share your experiences to help us find your recess pal a forever family. Photos can be sent via email to media@pbhsnaples.org or posted to social media using #RescueRecess.
