
The Challenge
Patty Baker Humane Society Naples is seeking a local artist to design and paint a custom exterior mural celebrating love, rescue, and community. The mural will serve as a joyful, photo-friendly backdrop for adopters to take their first family photo. Let your art be part of something meaningful — help us turn this wall into a celebration of second chances and happy tails!
Contest Dates
- Submission Dates: September 15 – October 24
- Voting Period: October 27 -31
Submission Guidelines
- Submit a digital rendering or sketch of your proposed mural design
- Designs must reflect themes of love, rescue, adoption, animals, and community
- Include a short artist statement (max 250 words) explaining your concept and your connection to the themes
- Submit via the form below by October 15, 2025
- Limit one entry per artist/team
Everything You Need to Know
- Open to artists currently residing in Southwest Florida
- Both individual artists and collaborative teams may apply
- Must be available to paint the mural in person at the shelter location within the designated timeline
- The mural will be painted on an exterior wall and must be weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor visibility
- The design should be:
- Branded – may include or complement PBHSN’s logo or colors
- Photo-friendly – engaging as a photo backdrop for visitors and adopters
- Family-friendly – no offensive, political, or controversial content
- Final dimensions: 13’ wide x 8.5’ high

- PBHSN team will review submissions and vote
- Judging criteria include:
- Creativity & originality
- Relevance to theme
- Visual impact
- Feasibility for mural execution
- The winner will be announced on our social media channels in late October
- Mural installation must be completed by end of year, 2025
- All supplies, materials, and time for design development and painting will be covered by PBHSN
- Artist must sign a release form granting Patty Baker Humane Society Naples the right to use the mural and related images for promotional purposes
- Artist will receive public credit on or near the mural and in social media promotion
- Winner must coordinate with shelter staff to schedule mural painting days/times
